Bio:
Tracey Wong is a certified school library media specialist. She began her career with the NYC Department of Education and has worked in various capacities including a 4th grade classroom teacher, a Reading Recovery teacher, a 1st grade collaborative team teacher in a special education setting, and as a Fountas and Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention Specialist. Tracey is a strong believer in empowering others by promoting transliteracy in learning.
Tracey has been recognized for her ability to writing winning grant proposals as well her ability to obtain resources and expand learning opportunities for different NYC school communities. In her first two and a half years working as a school library media specialist, Tracey secured over a million dollars in programs, renovations, technology and resources as highlighted by the UFT paper. In 2017, she obtained $565,868 in funding through the My Brother's Keeper grant for Greenburgh Central School District.
Tracey's writing and work has been published in Library Media Connection, Simple K-12, School Library Advocacy Blog, School Library Monthly, Teacher Librarian, School Library Connection and School Library Journal and can be accessed here . Her school library media center was featured in School Library Journal for their Yoga in the Library article. She has presented various workshops on literacy, grant writing and e-portfolios at different NYC schools, the NYC Elementary Principals' Conference, the NYC School Library Services Spring Exploratorium, New York State Library Association, Computers and Libraries Conference, Buffalo School District, Edina, MN School District, PSLA Exploratorium, NYSCATE and the American Association of School Libraries. She is a Lemelson- MIT Excite Award recipient, the 2016 ALA Scholastic Recipient and a Microsoft Innovative Educator North East Regional Lead.
