Mission Statement:

The mission of American Passage is to educate while providing a stimulating, life enrichment environment for  senior citizens, Alzheimer and dementia population.  Through literacy, American Passage will reopen the world of information and the riches of transliteracy to enhance the lives and relationships of the elderly community.  Participants  will be transliterate as they learn to explore, connect, and collaborate with their peers. Additionally, children will be provided citizenship opportunities to support the Tales to Travel program through scaffolding learning and community engagement among the elderly. New immigrant students are given the opportunity to reinforce their reading strategies and problem solving abilities by reading aloud to and interacting with senior citizens in facilities. While earning community service hours, scholars are also making a difference and improving in their own reading ability.
